Present your work at YSS-EFMA 2027

We invite students and early- and mid-career researchers to present original research, work in progress and new ideas on emerging functional materials. The theme for 2027 is optoelectronics and electronics, but abstracts on any emerging functional material are welcome.

Talks and posters

When you submit, tell us whether you would like to give an oral presentation (15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions) or a poster. The organising committee reads every abstract. We do not reject abstracts that are within scope: if we receive more requests for talks than there are time slots, some authors will be offered a poster instead.

Invited speakers should also submit their abstract through the form, choosing Invited speaker. The committee will confirm the slot (plenary, keynote or invited talk).

Outcome

We will email every author within a week of the submission deadline.

After acceptance

At least one author of each abstract must register for the symposium and present the work in person.

We welcome abstracts on all emerging functional materials, including:

• Perovskite materials and devices
• Organic semiconductors and devices
• Electronic materials
• 2D semiconductors
• Other emerging photovoltaics (e.g. CZTS)
• Sensing
• Smart materials
• AI for materials science
• Other functional materials

Sessions will be arranged once all abstracts are in.

How to submit

1. Prepare your abstract in English (maximum 300 words, excluding title and authors) as a PDF or Word file, using the abstract template.
2. Open the submission form, enter the presenting author's details and upload the file.
3. You will see a reference number straight away and receive a confirmation email.
